Ultimate Blog Party 2008/

Guess what this week is? Next week is Holy Week (and here's a fascinating article on just how they count those 40 days in Lent -- as the author says, get out your calculators), and this week is The Ultimate Blog Party!

Hosted at 5 Minutes forMom, this is a week when woman bloggers across the land (or on the sea, I guess, if there's somebody blogging shipboard), write a fun party post, introducing themselves, celebrating (and trying to win the prizes being hosted over at the main party .)

I started blogging three years ago, as a way to keep in touch with my sister (who occasionally comments here) and because I was more involved then in writing hobbit-based Lord of the Rings fanfic (see my stories here: Stories of Arda author page -- I'm especially proud of "Healing the Long Cleeve.") The fanfic connection somewhat explains the online name, since Pippin is my favorite hobbit to write/read about -- and topaz is my birthstone.

Since that time, I've had a little girl, who is 21 months old today! I talk about her in this blog -- her development, the books we're reading from the library or the toddler curriculum at Letter of the Week (see the "kid's book list" category in my left sidebar or my "memories" at the top of the page to read "our" reviews) - and more. I, myself, as Thomas Jefferson said, "cannot live without books," so I talk about what I'm reading, too. ("book list" category) I work outside the home four days a week, and from home one day a week, at a job that I do not talk about.

I enjoy cooking, and have started doing cookbook reviews, and wish I had more time for crafting. I'm also trying to get myself somewhat more organized before I turn 40! this year. And I'll also talk about random stuff.

I'm coming late to the party, but if you ladies (sorry, no guys allowed) want to participate, get your party post up and comment at the main party post at 5MinutesforMom.com by March 14. Then you can be eligible to win some of the great prizes, like these that would be my top three choices:

52 a Jendi Jean Bag from http://jendisjournal.com/jendi-jean-bags/

54 — $60 Gift Certificate to Mikarose.com (dresses)

http://www.mikarose.com

60 — $25 Gift Certificate to Amazon -- how can you go wrong with this prize from http://jhthomas.blogspot.com/?

I would also be happy with some prizes for "Mommy" (like the book-related ones), chocolate, goat milk skin care kit....or toddlers or older kids (sippy cups, soap, and so on):

Here's the list of the rest of the prizes that caught my eye, in order of wishful thinking preference:

13 — Toddler Wash and Bedtime Easy-Grip Toddler Sudzing Bars; 137 — Go BPA Free Sippy Sampler Kit; 19 — Klean Kanteen Sippy Cup; 29 — $25 gift card to My Mommy’s Bracelets or Baby Girl Bracelets; 79 — Skin Care Kit (goat milk soaps); 39 — $20 Gift Certificate to Amazon; 117 — $25 Gift Certificate to Target; 110 — 3 Autographed Children’s Books; 81 — Basket of Books (chocolate and romance novels); 16 — MomSpit Kit; 8 — 50 Nights of Family Fun; 96 — 3 Good Pails; 11 — $40 gift certificate to Good For The Kids; 15 — $50 gift certificate to Kids Magical Wonder; 10 — $25 gift certificate to Fun On The Ark; 132 — Joanna Weaver books (Mary Heart in a Martha World and Having a Mary Spirit); 70 — Chocolate; 100 — 3 books

Always good to see another fellow Tolkien fan! BTW, do you have Letters From Father Christmas for the holiday season? My older kids and I would read one letter each night in the weeks before.. ok, a little out of season NOW, but...

Have fun with the Party!

Organized Mom - Blogger party
I like the book list - I had to disable my reading for a while the last time i picked up a book it was Cecilia Dart-Thornton's ill made mute and I was up for three nights straight reading all three books - i think they library was concerned about me ;)

When i start a book i can't stop until it's finished ... so now fiction is reserved for vacations ...

Good luck
